Budding Artist

We got a letter the other day from M-G's school. A piece of her artwork was chosen to be put on display in the Children's Museum. Also on display were other children's artwork from the area elementary schools and middle schools. It was fun to go to the art gallery of the museum and see M-G's painting there.

Lopsided

Well, Z now has three teeth. The third tooth came through during the night (of course) this past Thursday/Friday. So you can get a picture of how cute his little mouth is and how it makes us giggle, I will explain which teeth he has.

His first one came through, as you look into his mouth, just to the right of where his center teeth will be. His next tooth that grew was one of his center teeth on top...right beside his first tooth. So far, all teeth on the top are only on one side of his mouth. The third tooth that has been working its way out the past few days is on the bottom. It is one of the center teeth, but this one is (again, as you look in his mouth) on the left side. I am wondering if his teeth will continue to grow in this trend. !!!

This picture of him is not a great one, but it does show his two top teeth. Sorry about the carrot stain on his nose!! :)

We are working with him on the concept of symmetry. He is just not getting it yet. Right now...he is just a little lopsided!

Yep...he kinda looks like a jack-o-lantern!

Red Hills

The embankments along the hills of the highways and near the bridges of our town are covered with a beautiful red blanket of some flower. So many people have stopped to take pictures of the red hillsides, us included. Sadly, we got our picture near the end of the blooming, but it is still a beautiful sight!!!

God is Everywhere!!!

One morning, on the way to school, M-G and E were sticking out their tongues and blowing, "Thith-puth-putt." They did this for a little of the drive, making each other laugh, when E suddenly stopped. He sat for a few seconds watching M-G continue in the fun of blowing more "thith-puth-putt" and then realized something of great importance.

"M-G, stop!!!! Stop spitting!!!! (gasp, swallow, gasp) You're spitting on GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"No. I'm not E!! I wouldn't do that!" she replied.

"I know, but you're still spitting on God!" E was very concerned and wanted M-G to know how she was doing this. "God" he explained, "is everywhere and no matter where you are spitting, you're getting HIM!!!"

Soccer

The kids have been working hard and having lots of fun playing their first season of soccer. M-G is one of the tallest kids on the field but is still unsure how to manage the ball. She runs hard and tries to see everything that goes on around her and with the ball. One night, when playing a REALLY good team of all boys, she realized how to dribble the ball down the field and nearly made a goal. It was a a very exciting moment in the game---at least for us. E tires easily but has a great time playing. He even scored a goal one night and boy! was he thrilled!!! Just watching him rejoice and thrill about winning a point for his team is still a highlight of our year.

M-G is on a team called THUNDER. E is on a team called GORILLAS. On the night that he scored his first (and so far only) goal, he was taking a break from playing and was sitting down beside me. I was cheering something like, "Go Gorillas!!! Woo-hoo!!!---Way to hustle Gorillas!!!" E turned to me, and with large, solemn eyes explained to me that I was not pronouncing his team name correctly. "Mom, " he said, "you don't say 'gorillas'...you say 'go-re-yuh-luz.'"

I think when we come back 'home' he may get a bit of ribbing for the wonderful southern accent he is picking up.

April Fool's Day

No tricks have been played in our family----yet. I have been very tempted to call our parents and tell them that we are expecting another baby (we're NOT) as a good April Fool's joke. I was cackling about how we could do that and what we would say and even add the idea that the dr. thought he could hear two heartbeats instead of one...but Dana began to pale and get a little shaky, so we won't play that joke on anyone.

He did not think it was funny...

...not at all.

We are still a family of six (2 adults and 4 kids) and are not expecting to make it bigger until the kids grow up and add to our family by getting married.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This morning D-D and E had a little argument over how to say morning. D-D was telling E that she got the mice out of her hair and sent them back to Cinderella when she got up saying, "My hair is not tangles this smorning!"
"It's not SMorning, it's MORning!!" E says.
They go back and forth a few times and E has a hard time letting it drop. He and D-D only dropped their arguing after mom and dad helped them realize what fruits arguing would produce (ouch!). And D-D is still not convinced E was correct after their heated discussion. So, around our house, we do not say "Good Morning" to you, but "Good Smorning"---at least it is how we say it THIS smorning!
Another funny poem from my cousin Raynal (his other poem is on post Jan. 2008, titled "Goose Egg"):
I say it's Smorning you say it's Snot
And you just want to argue a lot
If it isn't Smorning it must be Snight
But the sun is shining, no reason to fight
You say it your way and I’ll say it mine
We’ll all get along and things will be fine
Dad says that arguing is really rotten
By this Safternoon all should be forgotten
So let's just smile and have some fun
We can go outside and play in the sun
