Our friends (and neighbors) gave a pre-Halloween party. Some Pictures from that evening:

She's teaching me the Dinosaur Rock

The hosts, Barney and Betty

There were a lot of cute and creepy costumes, but some of them were just too creepy---bleck! :o)

9 on the 14th

MG had decorated doughnuts for her treat at school this day. I did not get a picture of them all, but did get a pic. of one type she shared with her class.

We are finding that when your birthday
is in October it is hard to find anything
Un-Halloween-ey.

Later this same evening she opened some gifts as well as received balloons for her special day.
from D-D and Z:

from all the kids:

from mom and dad:
BOOKS!

from m, d and aunt and uncle:

her first big girl BIBLE!!!

She also got roses and balloons and clothes for her American Girl doll from the grandparents. I do not have pictures of these right now. It seemed like it was one party or cake after the other for a few weeks. Now on to Halloween goodies!!

Did You Know...

...how different those models REALLY look before the ads?

I hope this is a video that I can remember to show to my children. Now we must spread the word about true beauty:

"The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7b

Great beat...

This song is a Christian take on Beyonce's song. It is one I hope my kids take to heart!

This song makes me smile! Talk about rockin' to God's ways for us! Woo-hoo!

And here's one to just make you laugh (poor guy):

Two in One

We gave both girls a combined birthday party. It was chaos and cake...but oh, so fun!

After the presents! I did not make it to the room with my camera in time to get the actual opening, I just got there in time for the playing to begin. Little siblings to some of the party guests and the eating of the pizza. YUM

Cakes

D-D's birthday-day cake.
Hello Kitty!

Dana's birthday was on the 7th. MG helped with his cake by drawing all the pictures after I wrote the words. She also helped with her poodle cake by writing the "Happy 9." I added the "th" later.

The birthday party cakes: D-D wanted hearts and MG wanted her "Webkinz" poodle.

D-D is FIVE!!!

Balloons and gifts from each of the grandparents.

D-D's supper choice...pb&j sandwiches and cereal...then cake, of course!

Gifts from the family...Polly Pocket's Snow White, "Hello Kitty" dress, Tinkerbell socks, sticker earrings and gum!

Such creativity!

D-D has really been enjoying drawing pictures and using her scissors to cut them out (so far this fall she has cut only paper and has not tried to get her hair again!).
Girl On Motorcycle
One day, she asked me if she could use some markers on her paper, to which I replied, "Sit at the table and do not let little Z get hold of them!" She later came in to show me her creation:
Markers. On Paper.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just the other day D-D had finished with her lunch and came in to ask me if she could have more chips. I told her that she had already had enough and she didn't need more. I further instructed her to go wash her hands and face. "O.K. Momma!!!" she said. A few seconds later I went in behind her to begin cleaning up the lunch dishes only to make her jump as she was bringing her arm out of the chip bag and turn to me with those large "deer in the headlight" eyes:and she says, "It was an ask-ident!!! My arm just went in there all by itself!!!" Immediately she shoves the chips in her mouth as I laugh out loud at the absurdity of her statement.
She got a slight talking to about her lie later, but I was laughing too hard at the time for any talking to do much good. Quite the creative little character, isn't she?
