Christmas Wish

D-D has been making us laugh with her wishes for Christmas. The other day (actually around Thanksgiving) we received a toy magazine in the mail. In fact, several. D-D sat down with the fliers and pointed out almost every toy with a loud and happy, "Ooooh!!! I want dat fore Chwissmus!" She only skipped a page or two. Those happened to be the pages with some "yucky" toys geared for boys. So when commercials come on, I am not at all surprised to hear her exclaim in a loud, cheerful and excited voice, "Sainta can bwing me dat, tew!!!" Even when reading some of the few Christmas books we have, she will point to toys and say that it would be "fwun" to have that "tew." However, today she totally threw me for a loop with a NEW wish for Christmas.

We were reading one of our three books of "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" when she studies the picture of Saint Nick about to go down the chimney and says her usual, "I want dat!" Thinking it is one of the toys sticking out of the bag, I ask her which one she likes. She replies, "I doan want one of doughs toyees! I want dat watt theeng!" I am searching the picture..."White, thing, white thing" I am saying over to myself. "D-D," I say to her, "are you wanting Santa's beard?"

"Noooo...I want the watt theeng that is around Sainta's face!"

"That is a beard. So do you want a beard? Or are you wanting Poppa to grow a beard for Christmas?" I ask.

"Nope!!! I want one of doughs watt theengs for moy face, not Poppa's!!!! Ewe seelly mwomma!!!"

I am wondering if Santa will really bring her a beard!

HA!!!!
